What does it mean to be spiritual?

This course will use the writings of the Bahá’í Faith as the starting point for an exploration of the theme. It will offer the opportunity in an encouraging environment to challenge and stimulate thinking, share understanding and raise awareness using a structured process of dialogue. Each session will include time to explore how emerging thoughts can be expressed creatively using various visual arts techniques. We would also explore how the learning acquired through dialogue and creative expression might contribute not only to personal lives but also to creating a world embracing civilization.

No arts experience is expected, but if you have arts materials e.g. pencils, paints, pastels, charcoal paper, etc then do please bring them along. The tutor will supply basic materials for use in the course.

Turning Point: Key messages of the Universal House of Justice

In 1996 the Universal House of Justice set the Baha'i world on an intense path of learning about the systematic growth of the Faith.

We have now just passed the midway point of a 25 year period which will culminate in 2021 with the centenary of the foundation of the Formative Age.

Participants in this course will place the current series of plans in the context of Abdu'l-Baha's divine plan, explaining its unfoldment  through the century of light.  The seminal letters of the House of Justice of the past 13 years will be studied in depth, drawing out themes and universal trends.

This will be a participatory course.

Please note: copies of "Turning Point" published by Palabra Publications will be required reading and participants are encouraged to purchase copies in advance.

Reflections on the life of Mulla Husayn

In  one of the fast prayers we read..

“All praise, O Lord my God, be unto Him Who is the Manifestation of Thine Essence.....He Who is the Primal Point, ...and glory be upon him who was the first to believe in Him  and in His verses, whom Thou didst make a throne for the ascendancy of Thy most sublime Word, a focal-point for the manifestation of Thy most excellent names.... and a treasury of the pearls of Thy wisdom and Thy commandments.”

In this course we will reflect upon some aspects of the life of Mulla Husayn inevitably linked to some of the most momentous events of the birth of the Babi religion, and the lives of some of the Letters of the Living. The focus will be upon their motivation, and lessons that can be learned from their sense of obedience and their actions, and reactions when faced with indifference, difficulties and opposition .
